Planning a building BASE jump in the winter is one thing. Slipping as you exit, going head down and pitching on your back, then flying into the building probably wasn't part of the plan.
A valiant effort on what appears to be this BASE jumpers first attempt at a handstand -- at Bridge Day no less -- but I think he's doing it wrong :p He did land safely, which is all that matters.
If youre going to land off DZ, you better make it an epic adventure... like landing in a swamp and being saved by strangers in a sketchy boat. Merde!
A hard opening sucks. Period. A hard opening followed by an AAD fire and a messy two-out just as youre coming in on final is less than ideal. Talk about a bad day. What would you do: cutaway or?
Ground launch fail. If you grind your face along the ground and end up with grass in your teeth, you're doing it wrong.
At the expense of my personal safety and well-being, I present to you my very first (and hopefully last) "tunnel tracking" incident for your entertainment. Go higher and dive faster, he said. It'll be fun, he said. Well, I may love skydiving... but I still don't know what the hell I'm doing. Don't try this at home kids, I'm a professional idiot.
What starts off as a standard landing for a 240-jump skydiver quickly escalates to an "oh shit" moment, nearly smashing into some parked cars in the process. Remember: never stop flying your parachute (and don't be a toggle jockey :-).
BASE jumping with Nitro Circus can lead to somebody's first or somebody's last. I'm not sure if this was Brandon Lillard's first cliff strike, but luckily it wasn't his last. To learn more about a strange twist of fate after Brandon's accident and how you can help support his recovery, click here.
It's no secret that altitude awareness is crucial for skydivers. As students, we're taught to never sacrifice altitude for stability. This skydive student spins out of control, loses altitude awareness and pulls by 800 feet, which results in a CYPRES fire as his main canopy inflates. Luckily his reserve stayed in the container and he lands in a vineyard without a scratch.
